A message from the Author

a.k.a Blue Ice (Oztech 1999)Who would think of it that a once simple garage will be a well known I.T. center in the city for a decade. It's been almost twelve (12) years since we started serving Antipolo and the times we've spent for research, programming, designs and development services in computers can already be called a life.  Yes, we are a commercial establishment ... but money has just been second in our priorities, always.  Our main objective was to be a part in bringing Antipolo City and its townpeople closer to technology.

We have always charged very low, because we were happy enough just to see the people of Antipolo City learn computers through our past tutorial programs. And overwhelmed to hear some of our clients (those students who have consulted us in their thesis and machine problems) finished their courses with a little help from us.  From simple designs, flyers, invitations, typing and desktop publishing jobs ... to computer programming, repairs and troubleshooting ... to tutorials and consultations, we were always there to serve the people of Antipolo City.  And that we are contented with ...

Now, we are just one of those computer shops venturing in the same kind of business ... just one out of too many in the same place.  All these years, we never thought of charging the right price in order for us to accumulate enough resources to upgrade everything in our setup because the main objective was to simply serve.

And with that we thank all of our loyal customers who have been with us in goodtimes and bad times, we thank those people who understood what we aim for in this adventure.  Those people, who understood that our team who are  true natives of Antipolo, is here to be a part of Antipolo's success, and even in those times it wasn't a city yet.

And with that, we gain confidence and pride to say that our team at OZTECH computer center were born in this town once called Antipolo, Rizal and we will always be proud to serve the residents of Antipolo City in our own way.   And as a continuation of our main goal ... we give our town their own DOMAIN NAME in the Internet - http://www.AntipoloCity.com

because we always have loved the town were we came from ...
because we always have loved our own people ...
and yet we do not expect too much in return.

Educational Background

Ronald took his primary education at (JSES) Juan Sumulong Elementary School and graduated Class Valedictorian of his batch. During his grade 6 year, after winning the District Level Comptetition of Math Olympian, he represented the District of Antipolo City in the Division Level of Philippine Math Olympian (Elementary Level) and finished the competition with a Bronze Medal.

He continued his secondary education at Sumulong Memorial High School (SMHS). During his first year, he had his chance to regain his title of Philippine Math Olympian (Secondary Level), with a better return, capturing the GOLD Medal at the Division Level of Rizal, again representing the District of Antipolo.

He was the batch's consistent 1st honor student from First year to Third Year, and finishing his high school year with a 1st Honorable Mention Medal on his fourth and last year.

During his college years at UP Diliman, he had his first and last university scholar diploma on the semester prior to his college graduation. He finished his BEEd degree, Major in Mathematics on 2000.

I.T. Biography

The Wizard of Oz (Oztech 1996) Initially inspired by his brother Oliver Zapanta (founder of Oztech, now a Lead Data Analytics Engineer of Hotwire.com-USA), Ronald was working with computers at the early stages of his Grade IV days using the GREEN THOMSON PC, the very first PC perhaps in Antipolo City in 1988.

During his college years, his early exposure to PC Programming Languages like Turbo Basic, Turbo Pascal and Turbo C has put a lot of pressure to himself. He wanted to study Computer Science at UP Diliman, but unfortunately he was off the requirements needed. At UP Diliman, he studied at Statistical Center for two years but later on transferred to the College of Education where he found a home, and where he got his BEEd degree.

Even when he was already applying for work, though he knew how to use DELPHI Development Tools and Microsoft Visual Basic, programming was simply not his world.

Fortunately, the early exposure also to Desktop Publishing in his high school years has simply fortified his career path. Leaving the urge to program due to lack of IT credentials, he then turned himself into a graphics artist and tried his luck on the said field, unknowing that later on, he will be fulfilling also his dream of being a programmer in some way.

Ronald Zapanta was then employed by Accent Micro Technologies, Inc. in 1999 as a graphics designer. Accent Micro Technologies was an exclusive distributor of DELL Computers. There, his skills were nurtured by the Marketing Communications Department of AMTI, headed by Mr. Maurice Altar (former Marcom Manager of MSI Digiland), and Ms. Jocelyn Mae Yniguez (now Marcom Manager). While improving his graphics skills with his co-Designers Allan Abella (now owner of Visualeyes Philippines) and Wilbert Ng (Web Designer of European Chambers of Commerce), he simultaneously trained himself with WEB Design and Development. The MARCOMM GROUP then instantly morphed into a QUASI-ADVERTISING AGENCY (Composed of Dirk Tumlos, Joyce Tolentino, Patrick, Michelle, Girlie Magalong, Marissa).

His initial assignment was to mass broadcast all contacts compiled by TeleMarketer Rowan Esteves, where Ronald programmed his own software - MESS (Marketing Email Sending System) using Active Server Pages. The software mass broadcasts promotional materials designed with images created by the art group. Along with his co-graphics artist, they designed promotional materials for AMTI. There was even an instance wherein Ronald's design of the DELL Computer Banner was chosen to be displayed abroad. Also, one of LAMCO's (one of the biggest supplier of IT Products in the industry) annual catalogue had his design as its front page and cover.

He worked for two years in the said Quasi Advertising Agency as Graphics Designer and Web Designer/Developer, wherein later on was offered by the owners/managers to be transferred to the M.I.S Department. But he politely refused, and decided to stay with the same group that trained him, wherein he became Multimedia Director later on.

Often times Web Development is consisted of many teams. The first team assigned to do the Graphics Design Task and the other the backend programming. For some, doing the same is a lot of hardwork. Not to mention the emergence of the multimedia flash production to highlight designs, which was then required by all web site clients.

So, he challenged himself that he can do BOTH and with the idea that one can't be called a web developer if he know not to integrate databases to web pages. And after days of training on his own, he started programming ASP pages and creating flash productions for the company. He even programmed his own Online Shopping Cart System.

He mastered the art of web database integration using Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP). The idea of displaying databases dynamically on web pages simply amazes him, and perhaps the viewers as well.

In 2001, he was invited by com sci students of Centro Escolar University to be a speaker on WEB Design and Development, where he discussed in details tips and tricks of Image Editing, Layout Designs, and Active Server Pages Programming.

He created www.JobPhilippines.Net (JobPhilippines Network) which uses ASP, to provide FREE Job Posting both for employers and job seekers. Though it lasted for two years only, it ended with more than 500 corporations and Ronald knew that the experience and skills he learned while creating and maintaining all through out the duration of JobPhilippines was already success for himself, not to mention that JobPhilippines was featured and compared along with other Job Hunting Web Sites in a famous Computer Magazine in 2002.

Since ASP runs only for Microsoft Based Web Hosting Services. He decided to study another WEB Database Technology. During that time, PHP was at its peak, the famous database technology which runs in UNIX and Linux. Using PHP, he then created a web site for his own city --- the 5 year old www.AntipoloCity.com.

Some of his works include:

Wheelers Club International Web Site - www.wheelersclub.com
Technical Alliance Program - www.tap.com.ph
Cypress Semiconductor Philippines, Inc. - www.cypress.com.ph
Lamco International - www.lamco.com.ph (Co-Designer)
Accent Micro Technologies, Inc. - www.amti.com.ph (Co-Designer)

We maybe can also classify him as a once International Web Designer because he had designed the web site of:

SmartBridges Singapore - www.smartbridges.com (in 2001)

He was supposed to work with his brother Oliver at ICRG-San Francisco, but chosed to stay in the city and improve their family business.

Now, he enjoys working with OZTECH Computer Center, where he uses almost everything he learned during his corporate years, to maintain and run this business. At the same time, he continously maintains this Commercial Web Site of Antipolo City as a sign of thanks to all patrons of Oztech Computer Center.

Currenty, he is in to Video Editing where he maintains a series entitled Video Magic 101 broadcasted at YouTube.Com where he showcases Videographics Effects.
