Online Community Appeals to Sangguniang Barangays of Antipolo City
The Online Community appeals to the Sang. Brgy. & Sang. Panlungsod of Antipolo City not to charge Barangay Clearances of Computer Shops on a per PC basis. We believe that it is the establishment that is being cleared and not the PC per se. Otherwise, if the same principle is applied then if applied to all, carinderias will be taxed on a per table basis? funeral parlors will be taxed on a per Coffin basis? fast food chains will be taxed on a per chairs and tables basis? and so on and so forth. According to the Local Government Code, Barangay taxing powers in a City level are only applicable to establishments whose gross income annually ranges 50,000 or below. And local legislation handbooks clearly advise that Tax Ordinances should not be discriminant and should be uniform. We appeal to our beloved institutions concerned.
Irresponsible Dog/Pet Owners Shall Face Consequences of Their Actions
Dra. Edith Regalado, former Councilwoman, and author of the City Ordinance regarding the penalties and charges against Irresponsible Pet Owners, reiterates that everyone in the City of Antipolo should follow the law. The doctor pointed out that even without a law, every dog owner should be responsible enough NOT to let their pets roam along the streets day and night, beside having them vaccinated for Anti-Rabies. "This is not just for being a good citizen but this is definitely for our children and love ones whose life and health may be put to risk if these Irresponsible Pet Owners do not comply." Hazardous to motorist especially those riding in motorbikes is just one of the unlikely effects of stray dogs, not to mention the unnecessary garbage the sweep cleaners are cleaning daily.
Sangguniang Panlungsod Heeds Call of the Online Community Sector
Hon. Councilor Marino Bacani, introduced City Ordinance No. 2009-315, an ordinance amending Section 4 of City Ordinance No. 2006-245. The said Ordinance No. 2009-315 virtually allows Computer/Internet Shops to offer beneficial services within the vicinity of schools, church, hospitals, and government offices or to offer technological services to the general public, in short. The Online Community Sector (comprised of thousands of Computer/Internet literate students and professionals) of Antipolo City can finally give their heartfelt thanks to the Sangunniang Panglunsod under the leadership of Hon. Vice Mayor Lorenzo “Enchong” Zapanta, under the administration of Hon. Mayor Nilo Leyble for promoting the Internet and the future of communication, which was made possible through the initiatives of Councilor Bacani.
