Antipolo, Ilo-Ilo Cities:
To be sisters soon? by Daily Headlines, Ilo-Ilo City, February 19, 2002 The public officials of Antipolo City headed by Engr. Lito
Gatlabayan and Vice Mayor Zapanta are now working out a planned sisterhood between
Antipolo City and Ilo-Ilo City.Vice Mayor Zapanta of Antipolo City in an interview with the Daily Headlines confirmed this yesterday. The sisterhood between Antipolo City and Ilo-Ilo was made after a proposed sisterhood between Makati and Ilo-Ilo by the Ilo-Ilo City Council. "We expect good results from this," said Zapanta, who was in Ilo-Ilo City along with the other City Councilors for a seminar on local legislation. Earlier, Ilo-Ilo City Councilor Joshua Alim said that the planned sisterhood would promote tourism and other priority projects between the sister cities. However, Zapanta denied reports that Antipolo has become the haven of drug users and pushers in Metro Manila. "That is not correct. Our Peace and Order
Council is always consulting with Barangay Officials to stop the entry of Illegal
substances into our city," he claimed, adding, "Besides, Congressman Vic
Sumulong and Governor Nini Ynares are fully supportive of our efforts to eliminate the
drug problem in the city."
