After bagging the prestigious runner up award in the recently concluded Gawad ng Pangulo sa Kapaligiran, the Antipolo Clean and Green council vowed to sustain momentim to win the top plum this year, Even chairperson Josefina Gatlabayan inspired residents to recycle and plant more trees for life.

Mrs. Gatlabayan, wife of Mayor Angelito C. Gatlabayan, particularly urged the city government employees and the private sector to actively take part in the city wide garbage reduction scheme and the massive tree planting.

"Ka Pining", as she is fondly called, said that in reducing the garbage volume, recycling is a must.  It has become a viable, practical and environmentally-friendly solution to the garbage problem.

Mrs. Gatlabayan expressed elation over the choice saying the city has been constituting Clean and Green measures for almost four years.

Recycling helps the environment by reducing at and water pollution, conserving resources, reducing greenhouse gas emmission and reducing energy use.  In addition, recycling will help create livelihood in Antipolo in the areas of recyling collection, processing and manufacturing.
