Montalban wins Game 1, but Antipolo forces Game 3 of the YNARES 2002 Best of 3 Finals

The Antipolo Seniors Team lost to Montalban at the Antipolo Sports Arena in their game 1 of the best of 3 finals. Montalban showing their unbeatable poise, gunned down Antipolo with a double digit lead in almost the whole of the game.

But during the final quarter, it took Zapanta only two minutes to shine and score 10 straight points to keep Antipolo fighting.

At the last 8 seconds of the ball game, with the score of Montalban 88, Antipolo 83 the young Patrick Hubalde threw the ball to Zapanta at the corner 3 point shot, then the latter faked, dribbled and shoot the 3 points successfully plus a foul for a possible 4 or 5 point play.

The crowd grew wild but the game 1 surely belongs to Montalban after Antipolo was not able to rebound the ball from the intended missed free throw of Zapanta. The game ended with a 90-86 score.

Nevertheless, it then took Montalban 48 minutes to fumble their early chance for the championship crown, as Antipolo beat them in their Game 2 right at their very own home court at Rodriguez Gym.

Zapanta after being pumped in their Game 1, and being backed up by the young Patrick Hubalde, perhaps became too hot to handle by Montalban as our young hero Zapanta, made 7 three point shots and finished 30 points for Game 2.

Now, the series goes back to where it started, at the Antipolo City YNARES Gym for the final and deciding game of the YNARES CUP 2002.

The Antipolo Basketball Seniors Team needs all the support and cheers you can give! Be there!
