Alay-Lakad
Alay lahad was first called "Penitential Walk for Peace," a
sacrificial walk all the way from Quiapo Church to Antipolo Cathedral to bring the Virgin
of Antipolo visited the church of Quiapo every morning of April 30 of the year.
Balik "Hamaka" Festival
This is to commemorate the old way of journey from Taytay, Rizal to
Antipolo Church especially for the women and the elderly. They ride on a swing
called "Hammock", and gather at the Ynares Center where parade starts and ends
at "Patio" of the church. The "Hamaka" is decorated by different
flowers and other colorful designs.
Pistang Kagubatan
Every 15th day of September, the whole city of Antipolo celebrates the
"Kapistahan ng Kagubatan" by holding a big program of planting and mass walking

But a
certain amount of imagination must go into that endeavor... imagination that goes beyond
simple-minded exploitation or opportunities for which the townspeople are often blamed -
and, more often than not, erroneously - during the Maytime Festival.
Agriculture used to be the main livelihood
here. But there is a fortunate blending of entrepreneurs and businessmen that have well
spiced up the economic mobility of the town.
During the Maytime Festival, most of the people are engaged in selling Antipolo
delicacies such as kasoy (cashew nuts), suman, latik (coconut jam), calamay, mangga
(mango) etc.

Since all roads lead to Antipolo in this season of
festivities, the limited parking space has given the townspeople an opportunity for a good
business with parking fees ranging from P15.00 ($ 0.35) to P25.00 ($ 0.55) per vehicle.
Although street side parking is prohibited by law, it is during this month that such
traffic violators abound and are not apprehended.
There are those still engaged in woodworking, carpentry, dressmaking, automotive and
related works, even passenger-vehicle operating. Aside from the resident laborers and
professionals, there are those who labor and engage in their professions in Metro Manila.
With a population of more than 345,000*, the average income of City of Antipolo is P
69,000,000* ($ 1,533,333) - the average of last 3 years based on 1991 constant prices.
